10 Upcoming Soulslike Games 2023
1. Black Myth: Wukong
Black Myth: Wukong has been teasing us with news of its development since 2020. And if you want to be blown away by the trailers, we recommend watching this one below:

We have a lot of expectations for Black Myth: Wukong, which tops our list of Souls like games. Graphically, the game is built on Unreal Engine 5, and the graphics are out of this world. The game revolves around the Journey to the West novel, which was written in 16th-century China.
The story is riveting, and it revolves around Sun Wukong, a legendary figure who also happens to be a monkey. As a single-player game, you control the “Destined One,” who has the power to transform into a giant monster or a flying insect, making world traversal fun and exciting.
But there’s a problem: a definitive release date isn’t available. All we know is that the game is set to be released in 2023. Update: The game is now set for a summer 2024 release!
You should be on the lookout for this game, keeping a close eye on YouTube and Twitch to learn when the game is set to be released. If there’s one game on this list that will stun you with graphics and a great story, this is the one.
2. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is inspired by Nioh’s games, and it is set in the period of the Three Kingdoms. However, if you’ve played any game in the Three Kingdoms, it is said to have a very different adaptation.
Koei Tecmo has an amazing reputation, and it is believed that Wo Long may be the hardest of the souls like games.
As a role-playing action game, you’ll be able to choose among the five phases of the game. You’ll need to:
- Deflect attacks
- Counter opponents
- Fight close-ranged
- Unleash powerful spiritual attacks
You’ll be able to unlock new abilities, upgrade characters and use Battle Flags to make in-game saves. Cooperative multiplayer mode is available, allowing you to summon friends to be able to defeat more difficult foes.
As a nameless soldier, you’ll fight demons and monsters across the Three Kingdoms period. The game takes place through historical events, but the game is also filled with mythology and folklore.
And the good news?
The game is set to be released on March 3, 2023.
3. Lies of P
Neowiz Games and Round 8 Studios are behind the Lies of P game. The world has heard a lot of hype around this game, which is reminiscent of the Bloodborne games. However, Lies of P can be a major hit or a disappointment.
Unfortunately, no one knows for sure what this game’s future will hold. The game’s development was first mentioned in 2021, and we have a tentative release date of sometime in 2023.
With all of that said, what is this game about?
Pinocchio.
Yes, that Pinocchio. However, the studios promise that the game will have interesting enemies, extreme challenges and a retelling of Pinocchio like we’ve never seen before. You’ll traverse a nightmarish city as Pinocchio, using a “lie” system throughout the game that will change the gameplay.
If you don’t solve the mysteries ahead, the city of Krat will face imminent disaster. Recent reports indicate that the game runs flawlessly in 8k resolution.

4. The Lords of the Fallen
The Lords of the Fallen is a game you may have heard about because there was one released back in 2014. However, this new iteration is said to be quite similar to the Dark Souls franchise, so you know it’s good.
But while the visuals look stunning and are enough to rival any game like Dark Souls, we don’t know much about the gameplay.
Gameplay may be stunning and blow us away, or it’s possible that the gameplay may be subpar. We’re in for a major surprise in either case, entering into the fabled Dark Crusades. Your main objective is to kill a demon God by the name of Adyr.
Five times larger than the previous game, The Lords of the Fallen will have you traversing:
- The land of the dead
- The land of the living
Fast combat and massive boss battles await. The developer promises an immersive story where your legend will either be filled with light or darkness.
5. Hollow Knight: Silksong
Hollow Knight: Silksong is an upcoming sequel, and it’s an expansion of a game that people absolutely love. As many souls like games, Silksong promises to be extremely difficult to beat and will keep you on the edge of your seat.
If the sequel holds true to the original game, the boss battles will be epic, with:
- Intense strategies
- Intricate boss details
Players will discover a vast kingdom where they must fight and survive the onslaught of monsters that come their way. As Hornet, you’ll solve mysteries and tackle foes in ways like never before.
You’ll discover all new powers, adventures and journeys ahead.
In total, there are 150+ new hunters, beasts, assassins, monsters, kings and knights that you’ll need to fight. When you beat the game, you’ll unlock the Challenge Silk Soul mode. The mode allows for challenging experiences and spins on the game.
6. Star Wars: Jedi Survivor
Do you think that Fallen Order needed a sequel? Thankfully, the developers thought the same exact thing, which is why Jedi Survivor is here. The game is said to be story-driven and free from:
- Loot boxes
- Microtransactions
Survivor is set five years after the original, and you’ll continue your journey as Cal Kestis. What little information that we know of the game includes:
- A cinematic combat system that is very similar to the original game
- Force abilities and lightsaber combat that enhance the game
- Solvable mysteries along the way that allow you to determine the strengths and weaknesses of your enemies to kill them
- Discoverable planets, all with their own challenges, biomes and enemies
Players will have an expansive universe to explore, filled with all new abilities and equipment to unlock. The game is scheduled to be released on March 17, 2023.

7. Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn has amazing graphics, and the premise of the game is almost like God of War, but with a Dark Souls game. You’ll have to battle your way through the Gods and their armies, and the game has fluid, seamless gameplay while looking a lot like Steelrising.
Players embark on their journey to take a last stand against the Gods.
As an open-world adventure, the Door to the Afterlife is open, allowing untold evils to spill into the world that you’re trying to protect. You’ll challenge the gods with a complex combat system that includes a little of everything:
- Guns
- Magic
- Axes
- More
Players will make their way through dark and mysterious caverns, unlock the secrets of the City of Dawn and assemble a team of experts who will help them during the last siege against the gods.
If you’re up for a challenge, The Siege of Dawn is one of the most anticipated games coming out in 2023.
8. Enotria: The Last Song
Enotria: The Last Song is slated for release in 2023, and it’s a game that more people need to be talking about. The game is sunny and bright, unlike other games in the souls like genre. This time, you’ll enter the World of Enotria, where you’ll need to piece together all of its secrets.
In the world of Canovaccio, you’ll enter a bright and sunny world that is cursed with overwhelming foes.
When you immerse yourself in the game, you’ll be in the Italian countryside in the summer, where you can explore:
- Legends
- Folklore
As the epic story unfolds, you’ll weave your story with an ever-changing reality of yourself and changing environments. Your goal is to return the world to its former glory, where you’ll face many enemies and even more people that are willing to help them succeed.
Players will master tools of death, and each has its own special skill.
The game comes from a studio in Milan, and it has stunning graphics and music that will make it even more immersive.
9. Project Relic
Project Relic is a game that a lot of people reading this likely haven’t heard about before, but it is an action game that is presented by Project Cloud Games. The studio is a Korean-based developer who states that this is a brutal game like Dark Souls, but it may be even better.
The multiplayer action game is scheduled to come out in 2023, and we’re very excited to see what this indie developer has to offer.
For a few years, we’ve been hearing rumours about this game that it is trying to forge its own path in the souls-like genre.
Initially, rumours stated that the game:
- Lacked a stunning environment
- Took a very similar approach to souls like games
However, many of these reports were from 2021, and a lot can change in just a year or two. What we’ve seen from the most recent trailer is a world filled with monsters and stunning bosses.
We recommend that you take a look at the game and its dark environment for yourself before making a judgment of this game:

10. Mortal Rite
Mortal Rite is set to be released in June 2023. The game is a third-person action RPG that mimics the gameplay of souls-like games, but it also mixes in dungeon crawler and rogue-like gameplay.
Characters have their own unique abilities, allowing for replayability and the option to experience the game in new ways. Each character offers their own:
- Abilities
- Fighting style
- Lore
- Skills
- Strategies
Additionally, you can join up to five players in a co-op experience, which makes the game more fun and exciting. The ability to bring on more players will help you keep the game less intense and fun.
Encounters introduce challenging and robust enemies, mini-bosses and main bosses, all of who have rare rewards that will help you tackle more difficult enemies.
What gameplay do you prefer?
- Brawlers
- Melee
- Ranged
- Magic
Character types are vast, allowing you to take on a souls-like game using a combat style that you prefer most. Brawlers are slower and can absorb more damage, but archers are fast and nimble, but they lack the close-up combat abilities necessary during close-quarters combat.
When the developer put the game on Kickstarter, they raised over $68,000 from 1,300+ backers who saw the potential of Mortal Rite, which will be released on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
