11 Best Weapons for Resident Evil 4 Remake

Many of the weapons in the original Resident Evil 4 are back in the Remake, and they’ve been updated with new looks and stats.
Let’s look at some of the best weapons you can get your hands on in RE4 Remake, starting with a classic: Red9.
1. Red9

The iconic Red9 handgun returns in the Resident Evil 4 remake, and it’s as powerful as ever. Red9 has:
- Excellent accuracy
- High power
You can get your hands on Red9 as early as Chapter 3. Invest in some key upgrades, like the stock, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a situation Red9 can’t handle. The Exclusive upgrade will multiply this gun’s power significantly.
If you’re a player who prefers handguns to other weapons, Red9 is the right choice for you.
How to Get Red9
Red9 can be found in a large chest at the centre of the lake in Chapter 4. You’ll first need to defeat El Lago. That will give you access to the boat, which you can ride to the shipwreck and grab the chest.

2. Striker

Shotguns aren’t usually the weapon of choice in games where every second counts in a fight. But Striker is in a league of its own.
This semiautomatic shotgun can deal some serious damage – and without a ridiculously slow firing rate. Its massive ammo capacity means that you won’t be left high and dry when an enemy is breathing down your neck.
The Striker is ideal for group fights and for taking on tougher enemies, like the chainsaw-wielding Ganado.
If you’re up against a group of enemies and it’s up close and personal, Striker will make quick work of your foes.
How to Get Striker
You can get your hands on Striker in Chapter 10 from the merchant in the Grand Hall. It will cost you 38,000 Pesetas.

Striker’s Exclusive upgrade isn’t all that useful. You’ll double your ammo capacity, but it will come at a cost of 60,000 Pesetas.
3. CQBR Assault Rifle

If you like to keep your distance when fighting enemies, the CQBR Assault Rifle is the weapon for you. This long-range rifle is powerful against enemies that are hard to hit with other weapons, like those pesky flying insects.
The CQBR Assault Rifle is the game’s only fully automatic rifle, and it’s compatible with a variety of scopes.
How to Get the CQBR Assault Rifle
The CQBR Assault Rifle can be purchased in Chapter 10 after you regain control of Leon. Head to the second floor of the Library and check the walls for the Cubic Device puzzle. The rifle is your reward for solving the puzzle.

The CQBR Assault Rifle’s Exclusive upgrade increases its power by 1.5 times but will come at a cost of 100,000 Pesetas.
4. Broken Butterfly

The Broken Butterfly is another returning weapon, and it’s a fan favourite. This magnum handgun is deadly, taking out enemies in a single shot. Apart from the Rocket Launcher, the Broken Butterfly is the most powerful weapon in the game. With the Exclusive upgrade, it even surpasses the Rocket Launcher.
Use this weapon to take down bosses, mini-bosses and other tough enemies.
How to Get the Broken Butterfly
The Broken Butterfly becomes available in Chapter 7. You can buy it for 42,000 Pesetas when you enter the Castle. The Merchant will offer a limited-time discount of 30%, which drops the price to 29,400 Pesetas. He’ll even throw in the ammo recipe for free.

Power | 15 | 18 | 21 | 24 | 27 |
Ammo | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 |
The Broken Butterfly’s Exclusive upgrade boosts its power 1.5 times, but it will cost you 100,000 Pesetas. It’s one of the most expensive weapons to upgrade in the RE4 remake.
5. Riot Gun

The Riot Gun is an updated version of the original Riot Gun found in RE4. This shotgun is perfect for taking out multiple enemies and for close-range combat. It’s a great all-around weapon and it tops nearly all of the other weapons when it comes to firepower.
Because the Riot Gun has a tight spread, it’s good for both close and mid-range combat. But it takes up quite a bit of space – 16 cells in the Attache Case. You’ll find it’s worth the space, and you’ll be happy to hear that this gun isn’t all that expensive to upgrade.
How to Get the Riot Gun
You can purchase the Riot Gun from The Merchant once you reach Chapter 6. It will cost you 28,000 Pesetas.
Upgrades
Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5
Rate of fire | 0.75 | 0.8 | 0.88 | 0.98 | 1.1 |

Ammo | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 12 |
The Exclusive upgrade will increase the firepower by 1.5 times, but it will set you back by 80,000 Pesetas.
6. Infinite Rocket Launcher

The Infinite Rocket Launcher is a special weapon in this Resident Evil remake, and it’s an updated version of the original. As you may have guessed, this rocket launcher is a powerful weapon that you can use to take out multiple enemies at once.
Hurling rockets is a great way to make quick work of tough enemies and bosses. In fact, it kills any enemy and boss in a single shot. It’s one of the most powerful – and fun – Resident Evil weapons.
How to Get the Infinite Rocket Launcher
You can only get your hands on this weapon after you complete the Main Story for the first time. Unsurprisingly, it’s the most expensive weapon in the game – costing 2 million Pesetas.
Unlike other weapons in this game, the Infinite Rocket Launcher doesn’t have any upgrades – because it doesn’t need them.
7. TMP

The TMP is a rapid-fire submachine gun that will eat through groups of enemies. But like other submachine guns, the precision leaves a lot to be desired if you don’t invest in the stock upgrade. Still, it’s useful for taking out multiple enemies when they’re attacking at once.
How to Get the TMP
You can purchase the TMP in Chapter 3 for 10,000 Pesetas.
Upgrades
Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5
Rate of fire | 2.5 | – | – | – | – |
Reload | 1 | 1.1 | 1.2 | 1.3 | 1.4 |
Power | 0.5 | 0.65 | 0.8 | 0.95 | 1.1 |
Ammo | 30 | 40 | 50 | 60 | 70 |
The Exclusive upgrade boosts the TMP’s power by 1.5 times and comes at a cost of 100,000 Pesetas.
8. Handcannon

The Handcannon truly is like having a cannon in your hands. This powerful magnum can take out enemies with a single shot. And all of that firepower can be yours – after you complete the game.
How to Get the Handcannon
The Handcannon only unlocks after you’ve completed the Professional Agent Challenge. And to do that, you’ll need to complete the main story in Professional mode and without using any bonus weapons.
It’s a difficult weapon to unlock, and the cost to upgrade is high.
Upgrades
Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5
Rate of fire | 0.52 | 0.55 | 0.58 | 0.61 | 0.65 |
Reload | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
Power | 12 | 18 | 24 | 30 | 36 |
Ammo | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 |
The Exclusive upgrade is unique for this weapon – your ammo will never run out. The cost for this upgrade is just 10,000 Pesetas.
9. Chicago Sweeper

The Chicago Sweeper is the updated version of the Chicago Typewriter. It’s a special submachine gun that isn’t quite as powerful as the original. But it does have unlimited ammo, so it’s automatically one of the best weapons in the game.
How to Get the Chicago Sweeper
Like the Handcannon, you can only get the Chicago Sweeper after completing the game. Specifically, you’ll need to complete the Leon “A.” Kennedy Challenge. To do that, you’ll need to finish the main story in Professional mode with an A rank.
Upgrades
Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5
Rate of fire | 2.5 | – | – | – | – |
Reload | 0.78 | 0.82 | 0.86 | 0.89 | 0.93 |
Power | 0.4 | 0.8 | 1.2 | 1.6 | 2 |
Ammo | 50 | 55 | 60 | 65 | 70 |
10. Blacktail

The Blacktail handgun also made its way into the RE4 Remake, and it’s a great weapon to have at your side. Blacktail offers a great combination of damage and speed, offering the best fire rate and reload speed of all handguns in the remake. It also has the highest power in its class.
The Blacktail is small but mighty, taking up just four slots in your Attache Case. The biggest complaints are that this weapon has low ammo capacity and can’t use any attachments.
How to Get Blacktail
You can grab the Blacktail in Chapter 7 when you enter the Castle for 24,000 Pesetas.
Upgrades
Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5
Rate of fire | 1.19 | 1.33 | 1.63 | 1.91 | 2.2 |
Reload | 1.2 | 1.3 | 1.4 | 1.5 | 1.6 |
Power | 1.4 | 1.6 | 1.9 | 2.1 | 2.4 |
Ammo | 9 | 10 | 11 | 12 | 13 |
The Exclusive upgrade will increase the Blacktail’s power by 1.5 times and cost 100,000 Pesetas.
11. Primal Knife

The Primal Knife is a bonus weapon in the RE4 Remake, which means you won’t be able to use it until after you’ve completed the main story at least once. But it’s worth the pain to get because, with the Exclusive upgrade, it’s indestructible.
Not having to worry about repairs is a nice perk. When you’re face-to-face with an enemy, it’s game over if your knife is destroyed.
How to Get the Primal Knife
Getting your hands on the Primal Knife will take some work. You’ll need to destroy all 16 Clockwork Castellans hidden in the story, and there’s one for each chapter.
Once you’ve destroyed all 16, you can buy the knife at the Extra Content Shop. It will cost you 1,000 CP.
Upgrades
Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5
Power | .8 | .9 | 1 | 1.1 | 1.2 |
Attack Speed | 1.1 | – | – | – | – |
Durability | 1.6 | 1.8 | 2 | 2.2 | 2.4 |
The Exclusive upgrade will make the Primal Knife indestructible. It will cost you 1,000 Pesetas or an Exclusive Upgrade Ticket.
Final Words
The RE4 Remake is a blast (literally) with all of these weapons and toys. But it’s still a challenge to unlock some of the special weapons, and upgrading weapons is always a pain in next-gen games (we’re looking at you, God of War Ragnarok).
If you want to improve your skill and get your hands on all of the most powerful weapons in the RE4 Remake, be sure to watch more gameplays and streamers on Twitch or YouTube.
