3. Applying the Right Upgrades and Equipment
There are many Cones and kinds of Cones in this game that can significantly increase your characters’ effectiveness in combat. Equipping them with their corresponding character type can give that character a noticeable boost in power. So, if you have an Erudition Cone, be sure to give it to a Erudition character for the best results.
As for equipment, having a full set will also bring in the best result. At the beginning, your options might be limited but as you progress, you’ll see yourself obtaining more of these equipment. Try to equip them as a set as the bonuses are pretty nice and can help you edge out certain close battles.
4. Log in On a Daily Basis
We get that there are some players who are extremely busy and might not have all the time in the world to play Honkai: Star Rail for hours. Even so, spending around 20 minutes every day and doing your daily objectives can effortlessly make your team really strong.

6. Identify Your Carry
When you first start this game, your choice of characters is severely limited. There is no ‘dream team’ to begin with and you will be min-maxing a lot.
Not to worry though, as you play and progress more, you will eventually gain some powerful characters and knowing which these characters are is important. For example, if Lady Luck is on your side and you’ve managed to draw Seele, she will definitely be your ‘carry’ character.
As such, you would want to invest most of your resources into her because she will be your biggest asset in battle. In a way, you want to build your team around this ‘carry’ character and make sure he or she has the best support that complements their abilities.
7. Do Not Skimp on Your Skill Attack
This game, you’ll have 3 active abilities in combat, a Basic Attack, a Skill Attack and an Ultimate. Basic Attacks don’t require any skill points and instead, will grant the character a skill point when used. Of course, the Basic Attack is the weakest attack of them all.
As for the Skill Attack, they will use up a skill point but can potentially do more than just damage. Support characters usually have their Skills be buffs or debuffs while Attack-based characters would usually have strong single-target attacks or AOE attacks. Be sure to use them because if you save them, you will lose out on a lot of damage as you can only save up to 5 skill points.
8. Defend When You Need to Defend
It is not all just about attacking in Honkai: Star Rail. Sometimes, the game calls for an act of defence. Mindlessly going on the offensive can lead to a lot of troubles, especially when you are up against a boss.
Fortunately, the game is kind enough to warn you when the boss is about to hit you with a powerful attack. They’ll show you a ‘lock-on/warning’ sign on that character it is aiming the attack at. So, be prepared. Make sure the next action from the said character is set to defend and you can even add buffs to them from other Support characters.
That way, you can reduce the amount of damage taken to that character.
