Genshin Impact Version 2.2 is here and is the next big update after Watatsumi Island (read our guide to Genshin Impact’s Watatsumi Island). There are plenty of Genshin Impact Version 2.2 events to check out and, of course, Tsurumi Island.
In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about the island, its puzzles and its treasures.
Before you head out and start exploring, make sure that you stock up on Genesis Crystals. You can get your crystals here.
What is Genshin Impact’s Tsurumi Island?
Tsurumi Island is situated at the southern tip of Inazuma that was once home to an ancient civilization. Before they vanished, the ancient tribe worshipped Kana Kapatcir. Over the years, the land has started to regrow and is now home to automatons, hillichurls and rifthounds.
Initially, the island is shrouded in mist and will repel anyone who isn’t ready to enter.
Tsurumi Island is the sixth island to be added to Inazuma.
How to Get to Tsurumi Island
How exactly do you get to the island? If you’re thinking, “I’ll just head to the nearest Waverider Waypoint and sail there,” think again.
You may get lucky and get caught up in a storm that lets you respawn at the island, but Tsurumi is hidden in mist.
So, if sailing is out of the question, how do you get there?
First, you’ll need to head over to Seirai Island and complete the Seirai Stormchasers quests. Once you’ve done that, you can make your way to Inazuma City to pick up the quest ‘Through the Mists – a Particularly Particular Author’.
Remember – Tsurumi Island is shrouded in fog, so getting there is tricky without some help. Fortunately, there are electro-powered Stormstones that can help repel the fog and make it easier to navigate.
So, here’s how the quest works:
- First, go to the Inazuma City Adventurer’s Guild and speak to Katheryne.
- Next, you’ll need to find and talk to Sumida.
- Finally, look for Kama in Ritou.
- Once you tell Kama that you’re ready, you’ll spawn on the Island. You should find a Statue of the Seven nearby.
Your next task is to find and speak to Ruu, who is making an offering at the Great Thunderbird’s Perch. On your way there, you’ll light up lanterns to illuminate your path and keep you from getting lost. Once you’ve completed these tasks, the mists around the island will dissipate.
Without the fog in your way, you’re free to explore the island and all the treasures it’s hiding.
What’s New in Version 2.2?
Version 2.2 is loaded with new content, like new monsters that can only be found on Tsurumi Island, including:
- Rifthounds
- Rifthound Whelps
These new monsters apply the Corrosion debuff.
Players will also find new a new type of chest – Remarkable Chests – that you can use to furnish your Serenitea pots.
Another cool thing you’ll find on the island is Fluorescent Fungus. This glow-in-the-dark fungus can only be found on Tsurumi Island, and it may be ascension material for Thoma, an upcoming character to be released in the game’s upcoming update.
Relay Stone Puzzles
Tsurumi Island has 7 relay stone puzzles. Solve them, and you’ll get access to Exquisite Chests. These puzzles are a little more complicated because they have three components:
- Relay Stones, which conduct the electrical current.
- Discharge Stones, which shoot an electric current.
- Cumulation Stones, which absorb the current from the discharge stone.
- Completing the circuit will complete the puzzle.
When you walk into a relay stone puzzle area, you’ll find several relay stones scattered around. It’s your job to position these stones so that the current from the discharge stone reaches the cumulation stone. Relay stones can be placed however and wherever you want.
The new update also introduces a new component to these puzzles: concrete linings. These linings serve as relays or conductors, and they can be seen on walls or on the ground. At each end of the concrete linings, there will be immovable relay stones. Get the current to one end of the concrete lining, and it will automatically transport it to the other end.
Once you complete the circuit, you can loot the exquisite chest.

One concrete lining sits between the first discharge stone and the cumulation stone.

This puzzle is simple to solve:
Take the relay stone near the first discharge stone and place it near the cumulation stone. The concrete lining will take care of the rest.
Place the relay stone near the second discharge stone between the two concrete linings.

To drain the water, you’ll need to gather the three seelies in the area and use them to unlock the switch.

- One is above a broken pillar
- One is hidden under the rubble of rocks
Here’s how to solve the puzzle:
Place one relay stone near the cumulation stone and the other between the two concrete linings to connect the first discharge stone.
To connect the other discharge stone, you will need to put the relay stone mid-air in between the two concrete linings.
