All Talking Points for Genshin Impact’s 2.7 Update
Naturally, we were all bummed that the 2.7 update for Genshin Impact was delayed but good things come to those who wait. We finally have a confirmation as to when the update will be dropping!
Happening on the 31st of May 2022, the 2.7 update, better known as the Hidden Dreams in Depth, will introduce a wide variety of new content that the game desperately needs.
Today, we will be taking a look at all the juicy points for this update and what to expect when you jump into it.
New Characters: Yelan and Kuki Shinobu
We hope that you have your Primogems ready because Yelan and Kuki Shinobu will be joining in as playable characters. Let us take a look at what these two characters bring to the table in terms of personality and combat abilities.
Yelan
Element: Hydro
Weapon: Bow
Rarity: 5-star
Yelan is a mysterious character, in a good way of course. She is extremely dependent and helpful to those around her yet we still do not know much about her true intentions which makes her character quite fascinating.
As for her combat abilities, Yelan’s Elemental Skill—Lingering Lifeline—marks enemies that will explode based on Yelan’s current HP while her Elemental Burst, Depth-Clarion Dice will allow Yelan to conjure an Exquisite Throw, dealing AOE Hydro damage to those around her.
Although we don’t know much about Yelan’s actual performance at the moment, we can hypothesise that HP will be Yelan’s biggest factor when it comes to damage output, so if you are lucky enough to draw Yelan, you might want to lean towards artifacts that bolsters her HP stat.
Kuki Shinobu
Element: Electro
Weapon: Sword
Rarity: 4-star
Like Yelan, Kuki Shinobu is also shrouded in mystery. We don’t know her underneath her mask but one thing’s for certain—she is super capable and has transformed the Arataki Gang into the powerhouse it is today.
Taking on an essential role in the Arataki Gang will also mean that Kuki Shinobu is a fearsome fighter as well. Her explosive fighting style paired with her Elemental Skill, Sanctifying Ring creates a ring surrounding Kuki, dealing Electro damage to enemies around it. Do note that to cast this skill, Kuki will need to sacrifice 30% of her current HP.
For her Elemental Burst, the Goei Narukami Kariyama Rite sees Kuki pierce her blade into the ground, dealing AOE Electro damage around with the skill lasting longer if Kuki’s HP is 50% or lesser.
As Kuki’s abilities get stronger whenever her health is lower, focusing either on defence or going all-out on offence are all viable options. If you have team members that can provide defensive buffs for Kuki, building her with ATK-based artifacts could be good or if you want to be on the safe side, DEF-based artifacts can also do you no wrong.
Various New Events
Aside from the core story, the 2.7 update has generously greeted us with multiple new events that feature minigames and challenges that yield promising rewards.
Events that players can enjoy are:
Perilous Trail
The Perilous Trail is a challenge that has 4 different domains for the player to conquer. Each of these 4 domains will have 3 different rounds and after passing each round, players will be forced to reorganise their party members.
Newer players that may not have enough characters to rotate their team will not have to worry as this challenge will include trial characters which players can temporarily use.
Rewards for this event: Fading Twilight and Glowing Gem.
The Almighty Arataki Great and Glorious Drumalong Festival
This special event is a rhythm game that puts players’ timing to the test. Players will need to precisely time their input and the more accurate they are, the higher the number of points they will earn. This event might require some getting used to, but with practice, we are sure players will score with flying colours.
Rewards for this event: Level-up and enhancement materials, Primogems and Mora.
A Muddy Bizarre Adventure
The players’ main goal for this event is to guard and defend the Pursina’s Spike as it tries to purify the environment. Therefore, you need to clear and defeat all the enemies surrounding it as quickly as possible for the best score.
The challenge will be completed once the Pursina’s Spike has purified the environment. For this event, we recommend using characters that have strong AOE skills as it would make it much easier for you to clear hordes of enemies.
Rewards for this event: Level-up and enhancement materials, Primogems and Mora.
Core of the Apparatus
The Core of the Apparatus quest will require players to build a toy robot based on the merchant’s request. This is more of a collecting based event where you need to use your Material Collector to collect specific materials to build the desired toy robot.
Rewards for this event: Level-up and enhancement materials, Primogems and Mora.
Returning Characters: Xiao and Arataki Itto
If you’ve missed the chance to get either Xiao or Arataki Itto in the previous updates, here’s your chance to draw them again! Let us review these two awesome characters and see how they can fit into your current lineup.
Xiao
Xiao is one of the highest damage dealers in the game and because of that, you would most likely want to play Xiao as your main DPS unit. Realise his potential by equipping him with ATK% items like Vermillon Hereafter and Gladiator’s Finale.
For synergy, Xiao is best paired with characters that can provide him with needed protection. Ideal candidates include Zhongli and Diona as they provide Shields that are great for protecting and sustaining Xiao’s firepower.
Arataki Itto
Many consider Itto as a “Crit Lord” as he boasts an insanely high Crit Rate. Like Xiao, Itto is best played as the main or sub DPS where his high damage output can be put to great use. Ironically, it is often recommended that the artifact you decide to slap on Itto be on the defensive side as his Charged Attack requires some time to set up.
Items like Husk of Opulent Dreams and Retracing Bolide are good choices for defence.
As for who you would want to party Itto with, pairing Itto up with other Geo characters is ideal due to Geo Resonance. Gorou and Albedo are superb choices with the latter also assisting with Itto’s high Elemental Burst cost.
Other Noteworthy Additions and Reminders
Besides new characters and events, the 2.7 update has also brought in 2 new weapons. The 5-star Crit-boosting bow, Aqua Simulacra and the 4-star sword, Fading Twilight, which has 3 stages with different damage perks.
Plus, since this is a delayed patch, there will also be compensation where players will receive 400 Primogems, x7 Hero’s Wit, x16 Mystic Enhancement Ore, 120,000 Mora and x1 Fragile Resin.
There you have it! That pretty much covers all you need to know about Genshin Impact’s 2.7 Update and if you are looking to enhance your Genshin experience, you can do so with our Google Play Gift Cards here!
