Dead Cells Launched Barrel’s O’ Fun Update With New Biome, Weapons, Enemies, and Soundtrack

Game companies Motion Twin and Evil Empire announced that popular roguelike metrodivania game Dead Cells has released its latest free update called Barrels o’ Fun. Watch the gameplay trailer here:

The newest update is now available on Steam with the console versions coming later this summer. This is also the 20th update to the award-winning video game. This new content allows players to visit an industrial playground of doom complete with broken bottles, interactive barrels, Steam pipes, and other now-defunct remnants of a once-functioning distillery.

New areas bring new enemies, there’s a giant who throw big explosive barrels at you, or jam them into the ground before leaping out of the explosive radius. There’s also a new mimic that hides among barrels and explode when you come too close.

To help deal with these new threats, you have access to a few new weapons. Those include a barrel launcher, which is exactly as destructive as it sounds. You can also pick up the new tesla coil to deal damage to large groups of enemies. Finally, the update also adds a new chiptune 8-bit soundtrack for your listening pleasure.

Barrels o’ Fun has released on pc, and will be coming to consoles in summer this year. Dead Cells is available now on Steam, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
