Which skill should you unlock first?

That’s up to you. But we’re going to outline all of the best skills, how to unlock them and why they should be unlocked. Some skills also require you to join certain activities to get the upgrade points you need, so we’ll get into that too.

  • 160 health

Why You Need This Skill to Win

A one-hit kill on human and undead enemies is crucial in making complex fights easier. Plus, the ability adds another fun element to the game.

4. Perfect Dodge

Skills Description

Dodge your enemy at the right second to stagger them.

How to Unlock

Unlocking requires:

  • Vault Kick

Why You Need This Skill to Win

Perfect Dodge leaves enemies at a significant disadvantage and allows you to deal tons of damage when they stagger. If you’re good at dodging, this is an essential skill to have.

5. Block Projectiles

Skills Description

Block arrows, knives and other projectiles.

How to Unlock

Unlocking requires you to have the following:

  • Perfect Parry
  • 160 health

Why You Need This Skill to Win

Archers and anyone that heavily uses projectiles can quickly put you into a vulnerable position when fending off many foes. Mitigating projectile damage is crucial in these encounters and is why we recommend you unlock this ability as quickly as possible.

6. Power Attack

Skills Description

Deals an intensely powerful attack that interrupts attacks and deals more damage.

How to Unlock

The following are required to unlock Power Attack:

  • Vault Kick
  • 120 health

Why You Need This Skill to Win

Power Attack is an excellent offensive ability that breaks through enemy defences and can eat through 50% of their health in one hit. However, the power attack does have a long charge time, so it needs to be used strategically.

7. Perfect Parry

Skills Description

Perfect Parry adds a slo-mo effect that allows you to make precise follow-up attacks. Additionally, when you Perfect Parry, the enemy stagger lasts longer than normal.

How to Unlock

You’ll need to unlock the following before you can choose Perfect Parry:

  • Vault Kick
  • 120 health

Kill an enemy from behind instantly, allowing you to remain silent when destroying foes.

You’ll need the following to unlock this skill:

If you want to remain hidden and dispatch enemies without them knowing, Stab is the best option in Dying Light 2.

Abilities of Note

Many abilities will increase your fighting style and turn you into a killing machine. While we have outlined the best abilities above, there are just so many to choose from that will make your gameplay loads of fun.

A few of the abilities that could easily have made this list include:

  • Drop Kick: An ability that is known for dealing a high amount of damage. Drop Kick allows you to use environmental hazards to obliterate your enemies.
  • Grapple: As the game gets more challenging and you deal with a greater number of foes, Grapple will be your saving grace. The ability allows you to throw your enemies to the side and only requires you to get Perfect Dodge.
  • Power Shot: Finally, Power Shot is the last ability we’ll mention. If you like to use ranged weapons, Power Shot will help you destroy your enemies in the process.

Best Parkour Skills in Dying Light 2: Stay Human

Dying Light 2 will take at least 500 hours to fully complete, so you’ll need to master parkour skills to really get the most out of your game. There are many skills to love and master, but the following will really give you the competitive edge you need to survive:

1. Active Landing

Skills Description

Reduce damage when falling from high surfaces.

How to Unlock

Unlocking active landing requires:

  • High Jump

Why You Need This Skill to Win

Active Landing is crucial because it gives you the freedom to jump off rooftops and get back to ground level without dying in the process. This is a must-have skill in Dying Light 2 that we recommend getting immediately after obtaining High Jump.

2. Safe Landing

Skills Description

Increase the fall distance so that you can jump or fall from greater heights without taking any damage.

How to Unlock

Obtaining this ability requires you to have:

  • 140 stamina
  • Active Landing

Why You Need This Skill to Win

Active Landing is just one step towards safely falling from great heights. Safe Landing allows you to fall from heights that would normally kill you. Falling to safety is one of the best skills in the game because when you’re fleeing the undead, you don’t have much time to consider fall heights.

3. Firm Grip

Skills Description

Climb even when you run out of stamina to make the last-ditch climb onto a ledge. Even if you land on ledges from extreme heights, you’ll be able to maintain your grip.

How to Unlock

Firm Grip requires you to unlock:

  • High Jump

Why You Need This Skill to Win

Firm Grip is extremely useful because there are times when you’ll run out of stamina and won’t have the option of climbing buildings or objects. When you’re struggling to maintain your stamina early in the game, you’ll be elated that you have Firm Grip to get to safety.

4. Fast Climb

Skills Description

Traverse ledges faster and more efficiently than ever before.

How to Unlock

Fast Climb can only be unlocked after you have:

  • Firm Grip
  • 140 stamina

Why You Need This Skill to Win

Fast Climb is one of the crucial abilities that should be standard in the game but isn’t. Rapidly move up objects and buildings without consuming too much stamina in the process. You’ll want to get Fast Climb as soon as possible because it empowers you to escape enemies more quickly.

5. Far Jump

Skills Description

Jump off any object and use it as a springboard to jump further to reach other surfaces and ledges.

How to Unlock

You can unlock Far Jump by obtaining the following:

  • 120 stamina
  • High Jump

Why You Need This Skill to Win

Dying Light 2 demands that you cross gaps to stay alive. However, some gaps simply cannot be traversed with the standard jumping ability. Launching yourself in the air for a Far Jump allows you to close these gaps and escape unhindered.

6. High Jump

Skills Description

Reach higher levels and jump higher.

How to Unlock

Unlocking the High Jump ability is easy because it doesn’t require any additional requirements. Often, this is the first parkour ability that people obtain.

Why You Need This Skill to Win

High Jump is one of the abilities that you’ll talent into early in the game because it’s versatile. However, if you want to unlock some of the better parkour abilities in the game, you must unlock High Jump first anyway. Plus, being able to reach higher ledges in a game where jumping and running are essential, it makes sense to get High Jump ASAP.

7. Dart

Skills Description

Increase movement speed temporarily to jump wider gaps, run on walls for longer and even reach higher ledges when running.

How to Unlock

Dart can be unlocked when you meet the following requirements:

  • High Jump
  • 140 stamina

Why You Need This Skill to Win

Dart is one of the parkour abilities you press when you need to get out of trouble. The Dart ability needs to be performed tactically because it will rapidly deplete your stamina in the process.

While Dart will help you run faster and lead to longer jumps, keep in mind that it doesn’t make you jump higher.

8. Wall Run

Skills Description

Wall Run allows you to vertically run up walls to reach higher surfaces and ledges.

How to Unlock

You’ll need to unlock the following skill to be able to move into wall run:

  • Tic Tac
  • 200 stamina

Why You Need This Skill to Win

Wall Run is part of a cluster of different skills at the bottom of the parkour tree that starts with Tic Tac. Once you put points into Wall Run, you can progress to the Wall Run jump ability.

9. Wall Run Jump

Skills Description

Wall Run Jump allows you to run up the wall and jump to reach higher ledges and buildings.

How to Unlock

Unlocking Wall Run Jump requires you to have the following:

  • Wall Run
  • 240 stamina

Why You Need This Skill to Win

Wall Run Jump is a self-explanatory skill, which you will find extremely versatile when your parkouring. At the end of wall-running, you can perform a slight jump, enabling you to grab on to ledges and other platforms.

Wall Run and Wall Run Jump take your parkouring skills to the next level and open up the game’s terrain drastically.

Parkour is such a crucial part of the game, but you’ll need to choose the skills that you favour most. Safe landing and high jump are two of the abilities you’ll want early on because they’re versatile.

However, you need to make your own decision on which abilities to unlock and in which order.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human looks to be a fantastic game. But if you want to complete it fully, you need to master the basics. Our guide above is a great start, but don’t forget to watch more on YouTube and Twitch for updates and playthroughs.
