Explore An Open-World Anime Game With RED ASH

Keiji Inafune is keeping himself busy this year! While finishing up on Mighty No. 9 for launch, the creator of Mega Man has launched another Kickstarter for their latest game, RED ASH, which is meant to be a spiritual successor to Mega Man Legends.

The decidedly ambitious project is being lead by the original team that worked on Mega Man Legends. Art Director Kazushi Ito and DIrector Masahiro Yasuma are two such figures that will be leading the project. On their Kickstarter page, the game is described as follows:

RED ASH is a 3D action adventure game with third person shooting elements. One of the main goals behind the project is to inject more modern design elements into the classic action adventure RPG formula.

Taking place in a world where humans are almost extinct due to a large-scale robot world war, RED ASH: The Indelible Legend follows the escapades of Beck, Tyger, Call, and Gofer, four characters who make their livelihood by obtaining materials from feral robots known as Lost Technology.

What’s interesting about this project is that Comcept is doing a concurrent Kickstarter project of the anime series for RED ASH. It seems that Keiji Inafune and friends has big ides for this project.

Red Ash Anime Series

Speaking about the game, Inafune hopes to create an open, anime-inspired world with RED ASH that will, hopefully, shows off the best of Japanese talents.

“We want people around the world to look up to this project as an example of what Japanese creators are truly capable of.” Inafune says.

The Kickstarter campaign is aiming for $800,000 in funds for development and has prepared a wide range of support tiers with multiple rewards. The team hopes to add additional content for the core game which will make the game more fully realized, if additional funding is reached.

As of this moment, the game has managed to raise over $200,000 with 28 days left. Head to their Kickstarter page to learn more about the game. Aside from RED ASH, Keiji Inafune and Comcept is keeping themselves busy with the soon-to-release Mighty No. 9 and the recently-announced ReCore for Xbox One. We can’t wait to see how all these games will turn out!
