FIFA 21 will launch on Nintendo Switch on October 9, just like all of the other current-generation versions of the game. However, the Nintendo Switch game isn’t just like those other versions. Once again, the hybrid platform will be receiving a slightly updated version – officially known as FIFA 21: Legacy Edition. Check out the Official FIFA 21 Gameplay Trailer here:
This means that while FIFA 21: Legacy Edition will have the latest kits and squad updates for the latest season, as well as updated menus and overlays, it won’t have any of the new game modes or gameplay innovations that come with the PS4, Xbox One and PC releases.
That said you can still enjoy a wide variety of game modes like Kick Off, Career Mode, Tournaments – Licensed and Custom, including the UEFA Champions League, Women’s International Cup, Skill Games, Online Seasons, Online Friendlies, and Local Seasons with the same features from FIFA 20. FIFA Ultimate Team will also be included in the Legacy Edition.
To make it clear, the game will be running on the existing engine (designed for Switch), rather than the next-generation one, and feature the same gameplay innovation from FIFA 19 and FIFA 21 without any new development or significant enhancements.
FIFA 21 will launch on Steam, Origin, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo switch on the 9th of October. The game will also release on PS5, Xbox Series X, after those consoles launch, and Google Stadia this coming winter. Stay tuned for more information.
