Genshin Impact Character Highlight: Raiden Shogun
Like in every game, when there’s a new playable character, our adrenaline runs through the roof and more so, if it’s the elegant and powerful Raiden Shogun.
Having made her appearance in Version 2.0, we were all enthralled by the ruler of the Inazuma Shogunate.
Her purple colour scheme is extremely alluring and with an empowering aura surrounding her, one can assume that the Master of the Euthymic Plane is a fan favourite for anybody.
So let’s take a deeper look at Genshin’s latest general Raiden Shogun.
Raiden Shogun’s Background and Personality
As one of the members of The Seven and a shogun, one would expect her to be less approachable.
This is not the case, as she is written to be vastly different from the other shoguns. Designed to be more ‘lively’, she has her own preferences when it comes to opinions, although she still has a stern appearance that shrouds a veil of mystery around her.
Plus, her ruined past that resulted from many personal losses has made her extremely fearful of losing someone close to her.
This is perhaps one of the very few vulnerabilities that Raiden Shogun has and will go to lengths to protect.
Strong Comparisons with Raiden Mei
And as well-received Raiden Shogun was from the community, there are some that would question the similarities of Raiden Shogun and Raiden Mei from Honkai Impact.
Although there are striking similarities between the characters, both Honkai Impact and Genshin Impact are from the same developers miHoYo, which is to be expected.
But we assure you that despite the similar artistic approach, Raiden Shogun is a well-made character that is both fresh and original in its character development.
Plus, this isn’t the first time miHoYo draws inspiration from the existing characters of their other games. For instance:
– Himeko Murata from Honkai Impact shares a similar name to the Murata from Genshin Impact
– Venti from Genshin Impact has a similar greenish/wind design to Wendy from Honkai Impact
Raiden Shogun’s Combat and Abilities
And as her name states, Raiden Shogun mains the electrical element, Electro. She wields the polearm as her primary equipment.
The ability that stands out the most in her arsenal is her Elemental Burst that can deal devastating damage to enemies whilst also providing energy recovery for her allies.
And due to her proficiency in supplying energy for her party members, she can be seen as top-tier support with a relatively low downtime on her spells.
However, there are still a couple of Achilles heels that players should be aware of like potential Elemental Shields.
As her greatest asset is dealing and supplying energy for her allies, if the enemy team is built in a way that prevents elemental attacks, Raiden Shogun’s game plan might be severely limited.
