Get Ready MOBA Fans, Smite Is Officially Coming To Playstation 4

It looks like Playstation users will be getting a taste of Smite, the gods-inspired massively online battle arenaS, as Sony has just announced that the game will officially be coming over to Playstation 4.

Smite Playstation 4 Gameplay

Originally launched on PC, Smite was one of the few console MOBAs that made its presence as part of Xbox One’s lineup in 2015. The game will finally make its way onto the Playstation console before going through a few rounds of beta testing.

Billed as a free-to-play MOBA, Smite has experienced great success on Xbox One and PC where their player base clocks up to 14 million users. Part of Smite success is attributed to its unconventional style of third-person action combat instead of the typical top-down view of most MOBAs. This allowed most console players, who are not familiar to MOBAs, to easily transition into Smite.

Smite will maintain its free-to-play system when it comes over to Playstation 4 with all the game modes plus five gods (Ymir, Thor, Neith, Guan Yu, and Ra), to made free when the game officially launches. This is in addition to the list of gods that are available on free rotation every month. More gods will be made available either through unlockables with Favor or Gems or with special community events giveaway.

Sony will be running a Closed Beta for Smite in early March, which you can sign-up here. Additionally, Playstation 4 users will be getting several new skins for the gods on Smite that is available exclusive for the Sony console. Players can also purchase the Founder’s Pack which “unlocks all present and future gods in Smite”, including an “Ares ‘Soldier of Fortune’ skin, and a key for instant beta access.” The Founder’s Pack will cost players $29.99 and will go live when the Closed Beta starts.
