Nintendo is notorious for keeping their games family friend and looks to continue that tradition with the recently released Pokémon GO. However, the real world is not as kind as one girl accidentally found a dead body while playing the Pokémon augmented reality game.
As reported by County 10, 19-year-old Shayla Wiggins was walking along a river in Riverton, Wyoming one morning, in search for a water-type Pokémon when she noticed something floating in the river. As she got closer, she realised that it was a dead body floating in the river.
“It was pretty shocking,” Wiggins recalled. “I didn’t really know what to do at first. But I called 911 right away and they came really quickly.”
Fremont County Sheriff later told Kotaku that they are in the midst of an investigation over the dead body’s identify though mentioned that there is “no evidence of foul play” and the cause of death “appears to be accidental in nature.”
While the Pokémon GO craze is certainly taking the world by storm, it’s important to be safe and vigilant while playing the augmented reality game.
