Global Launch For Pokémon GO Temporarily “On-Hold”

While the United States, Australia and New Zealand are enjoying the Pokémon GO craze, the rest of the world, however, are still waiting for the official release of Nintendo’s augmented reality game on Android and iOS.

Pokemon Go Global Delay

In an interview with Niantic CEO John Hanke on Business Insider, it looks like you’ll have to wait a little bit longer to play Pokémon GO in your home country as the global launch is “paused until we’re comfortable”.

The decision to delay its global launch was due to the overwhelming success that the game is experiencing ever since its release in the three regions. The huge influx of players has caused numerous server breakdowns where players were unable to sign-up or log into the game.

“We thought the game would be popular, but it obviously stuck a nerve,” says Hanke on the number of people clamouring to play the AR game. Given the phenomenal reception that Pokémon GO is getting, Niantic might want to fix all the issues the game’s having as soon as possible in avoid delaying it any longer.

Pokémon GO is available now on Android and iOS on selected regions. A global rollout has been delayed with no new dates announced.
