Grand Theft Auto V is now free on the Epic Games Store until May 21st!
Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V will be available free Thursday morning on the Epic Games Store. Free games are available weekly on the platform; last week it was an indie game called Death Coming. The Windows PC version of GTA 5 will be the upcoming week’s game, unlocked at 11 a.m. EDT as a free download until May 21, according to Epic Games.
Players that download Grand Theft Auto V before the week is up will be able to keep (and play) the game for free beyond May 21. The only requirement to add it to one’s Epic Games Store library is that users enable two-factor authentication on their accounts. Epic Games began implementing this program on April 28. It’ll expire on May 21, when players will no longer be required to enable the security feature.
Epic Games has been offering free games on its platform since 2019. It announced at the start of this year that it’d continue doing so weekly throughout 2020.
For those of you who don’t know, Grand Theft Auto V is a 2013 action-adventure game. Set within the fictional state of San Andreas, based on Southern California, the single-player story follows three criminals and their efforts to commit heists while under pressure from a government agency and powerful crime figures. The open world design lets you freely roam San Andreas’ open countryside and the fictional city of Los Santos, based on Los Angeles.
Be sure to get your free copy of Grand Theft Auto V before May 21st! If you enjoy this game, you’ll also enjoy Red Dead Redemption 2:
