Here Comes A New Challenger For Street Fighter V: Ken Masters

Capcom has just released a trailer for the next fighter that will be entering the arena in Street Fighter V, and it’s none other than veteran street fighter Ken Masters. Announced during Comic-Con, fans got a good look at the new-and-improved brash and cocky Karate master.

Sporting a new hairdo and slick new design, Ken is looking less like a shotokan counterpart to Ryu. Instead, he’s looking more like an awesome fighter of his own right with this new design. Despite the iconic shoryuken special that’s shown in the trailer, Capcom claims that Ken moves have been modified to make him stand out more from his compatriot, Ryu.

Aiming for a more aggressive and “in your face” fighting stance, Capcom also mentions that Ken moves will be “a bit more stylish” compared to past iterations.

Capcom’s UK Community Manager Matthew Edwards went on to say that, “This is the most-in-your-face Ken has ever been, and that’s largely down to his new V-Skill and V-Trigger,”

His V-Trigger, named Heat Rush, acts more like a combo tool that seems to allow players to cancel in-and-out of special moves while chaining his attacks with dashes and light attack to set up a bigger combo. While his V-Skill, Quick Step, lets him close in on opponents from any distance by running towards them.

The other notable points to note from the reveal trailer is that Ken’s Hurricane Kick has been modified to resemble more from that in vanilla Street Fighter 2 which will be a boon to veteran Ken players. Another would be the Air Ex Version which looks more like a multi-hitting dive kick which could be a good setup for bigger combos.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Street Fighter V trailer without a teaser on the next fighter to make an appearance. From the looks of it, we might be looking on a E.Honda reveal. We’ll find out more when Capcom releases more in the future.
