Important Points You Need to Know About The Dawn of Ragnarok Expansion
The Assassin Creed games have branched out towards many different mythologies and lores. To be honest, if you were to tell us that the Assassin Creed franchise will be based on Norse mythology back in the early 2000s, we would’ve brushed it off as a mere fan expectation.
But lo and behold, the latest entry to the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is still going strong amongst many AC enthusiasts and has even received an expansion update called The Dawn of Ragnarok.
Naturally, we’re always excited when there’s an update or DLC expansion for any video games as it shows that the developers trust that their game is good and it still has untapped potential.
Therefore, let us get into the fray and see what the expansion is all about!
Story
The general premise for the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC is that the player will need to help rescue Baldr from the dwarves.
As such you will be walking down the path of Odin’s destiny and face the ordeals set in Svartalfheim, the realm of dwarves. Be ready to battle your way through an immersive environment where you will need to locate the Baldr’s captor and make them pay for messing with the lord of Norse mythology.
And based on the trailer, the footage of Svartalfheim looks phenomenal. The design and architecture of the land of the dwarves are strongly reminiscent of Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings and we are pretty sure Ubisoft will make sure that the actual gameplay will be as good as the trailer.
That said, we don’t want to spoil our readers with the juicy parts as we highly recommend you guys to experience the game for yourself.
Stronger Adversaries
Saving Baldr is one thing, but being Odin has its other set of problems. Battling against the armies of ice and fire, the Dawn of Ragnarok dives deeper into the Norse tales and has brought creatures from Jotunheim and Muspels to life.
From the announcement trailer, we got a brief look at the fire lord, Surtr and if its fight style and moves are as menacing as it looks, players would most likely need to buckle up to overcome the Lord of Fire.
Despite having to face such powerful enemies, it would be necessary for Odin—the player themselves—to have access to stronger weapons and abilities to overcome these foes.
So let us see what Ubisoft has in store for us that we can use to go up against the might of ice and fire.
The New Weapon: Hugr-Rip
To combat otherworldly beings, you would probably need an otherworldly weapon. In this expansion, players will be presented the Hugr-Rip weapon, a bracelet that has the power to extract the abilities of its enemies.
In other words, you will be venturing the Norse realms with pseudo-Kirby powers, gaining the abilities of other characters.
These are some of the powers that you can attain through the Hugr-Rip:
– Power of Muspelheim
– Power of the Raven
– Power of Jotunheim
– Power of Rebirth
– Power of the Raven
Each of these Powers will give you special abilities that will greatly assist you in overcoming the challenges you will face in both the ice and fire realms.
And like with most RPG games, the Hugr-Rip can be upgraded with in-game resources which will boost the powers’ effects and strength.
