Jeff Kaplan Is Impressed With A Fan-Made Cairo Map For Overwatch

Overwatch’s game director, Jeff Kaplan, posted in the shooter’s official subreddit indicating that he was impressed with the fan-made Overwatch map.

The Cairo-themed map includes pathways, unique structures with a mix of classic Egyptian-inspired design and surrounded by futuristic-looking cityscape. The map is rich in detail and it perfectly captures Overwatch’s distinctive art-style.

“This map took me about 2 months to finish, since I’m doing this together with my college thesis,” says Llorente. “I guess I’m doing this because I’m enjoying it, it’s like I’m also playing a game.”

Joshua Llorente who hails from the Philippines is currently studying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts major in Advertising Arts, and made the map during his free time. The map was built using Unreal Engine 4 and Maya over the course of two months, and is one of several maps designed by Llorente. You can check out his amazing portfolio here.
