Join The Chaos With Overwatch’s Beta This Weekend

Overwatch is currently undergoing a closed beta for the game and slots for the beta has been all filled up. Fortunately, if you still want to get into the beta, Blizzard will be conducting a special “stress-test” closed beta this weekend and will be inviting more players to join in on the fun.

Overwatch Weekend Beta

The Beta Test Weekend will be starting from Friday, November 20th at 9 AM Pacific Standard Time and will run until Monday, November 23rd, concluding at 9 AM Pacific Standard Time. Blizzard will be sending invites via email to the lucky few that are chosen for the closed weekend beta.

If you are chosen, then on the Overwatch tab in the Battle.net desktop app, an install button will appear that’s you to download the Overwatch beta. Since Blizzard will be doing a scheduled maintenance on Thursday, November 19th, it should give enough time for new players to download the beta.

One of the factors that determine your eligibility to join the Beta will be your desktop specs. Below are the recommended system requirements needed to run the game:

Minimum:

Operating system: Windows® Vista/7/8/10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
Processor: Intel® Core™ i3 or AMD Phenom™ X3 865
Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460, ATI Radeon™ HD 4850, or Intel® HD Graphics 4400
Memory: 768 MB VRAM, 4 GB System RAM
Storage: 7200 RPM with 5 GB available HD space

Recommended:

Operating system: Windows® Vista/7/8/10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5 or AMD Phenom™ II X3 2.8 GHz
Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660, ATI Radeon™ HD 7950
Memory: 2 GB VRAM, 6 GB System RAM
Storage: 7200 RPM with 5 GB available HD space

Aside from that, participants for the beta will be selected from a combination of factors including (but limited to) “your Battle.net region, when you signed up, your computer hardware specifications, and an element of luck.” Since this is a stress test, Blizzard states that there will be performance issues or unexpected downtime throughout the weekend.

Overwatch Weekend Beta

“Since this is a stress test, we’re primarily interested in your technical feedback.” remarked Blizzard. “Like how Overwatch runs on your system, your experience with the beta servers, critical bug reports, and other game-impacting problems. One of our goals is to push our hardware to the limit, so don’t be surprised if you experience performance issues or run into unexpected downtime—that’s all part of the process.”

The full roster of 21 champions will be available to play with three maps to choose from – Hanamura, King’s Row, and Watchpoint: Gibraltar. The modes available to play are:

Payload: The attacking teams’ objective is to move the payload to a delivery point, while the defenders must halt the attackers’ progress until time runs out.

Point Capture: Two teams battle over control of the map, one team on offense, the other on defense. The attacker’s goal is to capture critical objectives, while the defenders must maintain control over them until time runs out.

Overwatch is scheduled for a Spring 2016 launch and will be coming to Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The beta, however, is only limited to PC currently.
