Life Is Strange Developer Goes Gothic With Vampyr

Dontnod Entertainment had a runaway hit with the emotionally charged Life Is Strange. Despite their success, Dontnod Entertainment continues to work on their next title, a new gothic action RPG called Vampyr.

Taking place in London 1918 during the Spanish Flu era, players will follow the story of Jonathan Reid, a former war doctor and scientist that specializes in blood, which is beneficial to his condition as a vampire.

Vampyr aims to explore the vampire mythos but, rather than the sparkly vampires that we’re used to, Dontnod Entertainment aims to bring back the horror and gothic elements of vampire’s lore by creating a digital world that is befitting of a vampire game. The dark, gritty, war-torn streets of London makes it the perfect setting for Vampyr.

The game marks a different step in genre from the developer of Life Is Strange and Remember Me, but they intend to infuse as much of their games into Vampyr. In an interview with Playstation Blog, Game Director Philippe Moreau explained how action has consequence and how it affects the game.

“One of the most interesting things is that everyone you meet in Vampyr could be a target if you want. But each kill will have consequences on the fragile streets of London.” He continues, “You’ll both see those consequences and feel them. They’ll have an effect on the story, often immediately, and in the long-run.”

While Dontnod Entertainment has not released any details yet on when Vampyr will be coming out, it will be coming to Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. Check back on their website here to keep tabs on Vampyr‘s development.
