Nintendo fans, are you looking to get your fix of Zelda? Worry not, because The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes will fill that gap with co-op puzzle solving, monster battling and dungeon exploring that fans love. That’s right, this Nintendo 3DS exclusive lets you play co-op with other friends as the titular silent protagonist, Link.
Similar to the previously released The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords, players can co-op up to two friends and explore dungeons and slay monsters. In Four Swords, co-op was up to four players but Nintendo has decided to reduce it to three players for Triforce Heroes to encourage more teamwork and shed the competitive atmosphere it had before.
And Nintendo is making sure that players will cooperate by introducing puzzles and gameplay mechanic that forces teamwork with all three Links. One such example is when players have to stand on each others shoulder in order to reach a location using the game’s Totem mechanic.
Of course, players that want to play alone can still have a satisfactory single-player experience. For single players, the remaining Links will be controllable by the player via the lower touchscreen to help solve puzzles. But co-op gaming is where the focus is at, with features such as health-sharing, emoticon-like icons that enhance the co-op gaming experience with your friends.
Another fun new mechanic that Nintendo is introducing to Triforce Heroes is how different wardrobes can affect Link’s abilities. An example from game director Hiromasa Shikata explains, “Goron garb allows you to go through lava, the Kokiri suit will allow you to shoot three arrows.”
In a separate interview, Shikata further elaborates on the strategic component to Triforce Heroes’ wardrobe mechanics stating, “I thought that, depending on which clothing you collected, it would impact how you navigated courses and would make them easier to move through. It’s not something as simple as this will make a stronger attacker, or this will give you a better defense. They’re really designed toward making you be able to navigate and clear a course,”
With this much awesomeness coming to The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, OffGamers can’t wait for it to be released and play the game. The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes was recently confirmed to come out on October 23, exclusively to the Nintendo 3DS.
