Magic Duels: Origins
Magic Duels: Origins is a strategy card game based on the popular collectible card game, Magic: The Gathering, and also the successor to Stainless Games’ PC version of Magic, Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers.
The previous game series received negative criticism from players due to the developers charging exorbitant prices for the premium cards. Under this criticism, Magic Duels: Origins revives the friendly, easy-to-pick-up experience from the DotP series while adopting a free-to-play model.
Besides that, they have included a number of battle modes that will keep players busy with modes such as the normal mode, Versus battle (vs Human), Solo battle (vs AI), and Two-headed Giant (2v2). Meanwhile, solo battles come in three difficulties which are easy, medium, and hard. Through thE battle modes, players can earn premium cards (Players can purchase the premium cards as well via micro-transactions).
Magic Duels: Origins was well received by critics on all platforms on which it was released. The Xbox One version reviews have yet to be updated at Metacritic while the iOS version averages 84.00% from the same sites. The PC version holds a score of 77.00% on Metacritic, indicating generally favorable reviews.
