Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is right around the corner, but the embargo for the game has been uplifted and reviews from major sites are coming in full force. And from the looks of it, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set to be the best Metal Gear Solid from creator Hideo Kojima.
The major consensus so far, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is humongous. So humongous in fact, most of the reviewers are not posting their full reviews yet. Instead, most are just giving their initial impression of the game due to the overwhelming content the game is packed with.
Since most reviewers won’t post the comprehensive review until closer to launch, they’ve decided to list out some pointers about the game and how they feel about it so far. Here are some pointers that we’ve picked up on:
— The overall gameplay will be similar to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, in that you’ll begin each mission by investigating and surveying the base or camp with your binoculars to tag enemy soldier and track their movements. You can then choose to sneak into the base or go guns blazing to complete your objective, which can either be an extraction, assassination or some combination of both.
— Mother Base, the home base for Snake’s new army—Diamond Dogs—will play a huge role in developing the player’s gear and arsenal by building facilities, assigning staff to different divisions (R&D, Support, Intel, etc.), and even deploy combat units for support ops that will net you rewards such as cash or new recruits.
— Speaking of recruits, Phantom Pain gives you better incentives to complete missions non-lethally by introducing the Fulton Recovery Device that lets you balloon out stunned enemies back to Mother Base where they will be recruited into Diamond Dogs.
— The game maps are huge and you’ll split time wandering around between Afghanistan, Africa and the Indian Ocean where Mother Base is located. Of course, it’s not just vast spaces only, the map will be littered with bases to conquer, side ops to complete, and ingredients to collect.
From the looks of it, and the glowing reviews from major sites such as IGN and GameInformer, it seems like Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is well on its way to becoming the top nominee for Game Of The Year. We at OffGamers can’t wait for the game to be released and play as Big Boss for one last time.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set for release on September 1st and will come to Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
