Microsoft Rumored To Release A New Xbox One Model
It looks PlayStation is not the only one gearing for a console reveal this year. Reports have emerged that Microsoft plans to release a new model for the Xbox One, dubbed “Scorpio”, which will be smaller than the current Xbox One and comes packed with a 2TB hard drive.
Kotaku first made the report of the Scorpio but Polygon later followed up with more details regarding the console’s performance. The Scorpio is said to be “40 percent smaller than the current model,” and will include the ability to playback 4K media.
As for power, Polygon states that the Xbox One’s processor will see an upgrade when the Scorpio launches. The PlayStation NEO is rumored to run at 4.14 teraflops while the Scorpio is currently being targeted to perform at 6 teraflops, which is significantly higher.
At this moment, the Scorpio is rumored for a 2017 release, which is much later than PlayStation Neo’s rumored august release. Pricing, on the other hand, is currently “under active discussion” over at Microsoft.
