A new Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak DLC trailer revealed during The Game Awards and it looks like it’s going to be a huge expansion. The DLC is set to launch in Summer 2022 and it will be released on Nintendo Switch and PC. The base game Monster Hunter Rise is needed to play the DLC.
It has also been confirmed that there will be three monsters added to Sunbreak: Malzeno, Lunagaron, and Shogun Ceanataur. Malzeno is an Elder Dragon covered with dark scales and red feathers. Lunagaron is a Fanged Wyvern covered in cobalt scales and shown to have ice-like crystals on its back when in combat. Shogun Ceanataur is a Crab-like Carapaceon covered in a blue carapace that debuted in Monster Hunter 2.
With the new trailer of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion revealed in The Game Awards, we got a glimpse of the cinematic new monster Lunagaron, new hub town Elgado and new NPC Rodine. The trailer features Rodine, a merchant that the player can trade with in Monster Hunter Rise, fighting Lunagaron with a rapier and refers to the battle as a “royal matter”. The trailer then brings us to a ship where Rodine introduces the Elgado outpost.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has also been nominated in The Game Awards 2021 for “Best Role Playing” and “Best Multiplayer”. It launched exclusively on Nintendo Switch but now it will be released on PC on 12 January, 2022. The DLC will also be available for both platforms so stay tuned!
