Mortal Kombat 2 Confirmed To Include Johnny Cage

Fan-favorite Mortal Kombat character Johnny Cage has been confirmed to appear in the reboot film’s sequel.

The film’s writer Jeremy Slater revealed this during an interview with ComicBook recently, saying that although the production team is still uncertain how much screen time Cage will get, he hopes to bring the definitive version of the character to the big screen.

“Johnny Cage is one of my favorite characters, and I think there’s definitely a promise with the way the first movie ends of seeing Cole being like, ‘Okay, my next stop is to go recruit Johnny.’ So I think if he wasn’t included in the sequel at all, it would feel very strange,” said Slater.

This is in regards to the ending of the first film, where the main character Cole Young said that he’s going to Hollywood before the camera pans to a movie poster titled “Citizen Cage” starring an actor named Johnny Cage.

In the games, Johnny Cage is known to be an arrogant, cocky movie star with a witty sense of humor. His personality is a big contrast to the other characters in the franchise who are much more serious, making him a fan-favorite character.

The first film was released last year and although it was critically panned, many still enjoyed the movie for its extremely violent fight scenes, which stayed spiritually true to the source material.
