Nintendo Switch Online goes live today and players will be able to access several new online functionality, such as back up save data for most games, Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app, as well as a full library of NES classics to play online.
Nintendo has also confirmed that players can use Nintendo Gold Points in the game account to cover the membership, along with a seven-day free trial that is being offered when the service goes online. In the Nintendo Switch Online Service FAQ, Gold Points can be used when purchasing a membership in the Nintendo eShop. However, the points can’t be used for auto-renewal. The best part is that games can be played offline, for up to 7 days as long as players have an active Nintendo Switch Online membership.

The My Nintendo program gives players Gold Points each time they spend money making purchases, which includes both physical and digital games. For every purchase of digital games, players will earn five percent of the purchase price and one percent on physical copies.
