Overwatch Is Getting A New Support Character Soon

The first post-launch hero for Overwatch has been announced and it’s none other than Pharah’s mother, Ana Amari, who also happens to be a founding member of Overwatch.

Overwatch Ana Support Sniper

Over on Blizzard’s Overwatch page, Ana is listed as a support character with a three-star rating difficulty. Here’s a brief description of how she’ll work on the battlefield:

“Ana’s versatile arsenal allows her to affect heroes all over the battlefield. Her Biotic Rifle rounds and Biotic Grenades heal allies and damage or impair enemies; her sidearm tranquillizes key targets, and Nano Boost gives one of her comrades a considerable increase in power.”

Basically, she a support sniper that can heal allies and hurt enemies when hit by her bullets and also with her grenades. Add to that an ultimate that can significantly boost up a character, Ana can be destructive in the hands of a good player.

If you want to really get into the nitty-gritty of Ana’s abilities, we’ve list them down below:

Biotic Rifle
Ana’s rifle shoots darts that can restore health to her allies or deal ongoing damage to her enemies. She can use the rifle’s scope to zoom in on targets and make highly accurate shots.

Sleep Dart
Ana fires a dart from her sidearm, rendering an enemy unconscious (though any damage will douse them).

Biotic Grenade
Ana tosses a biotic bomb that deals damage to enemies and heals allies in a small area of effect. Affected allies briefly receive increased healing from all sources, while enemies caught in the blast cannot be healed for a few moments.

Nano Boost
After Ana hits one of her allies with a combat boost, they temporarily move faster, deal more damage, and take less damage from enemies’ attacks.

Blizzard hasn’t announced when Ana will be added to the roster but odds are she’ll make an appearance in the game by the end of July for free. For now. she’s available in Overwatch‘s Public Testing servers for PC. For now, here’s a gameplay trailer and the origin story for the coolest mom around.
