Players Left With Uncertain Future After Blizzard Canceled Hots eSports For 2019

Blizzard has decided to shift their developers away from Heroes of the Storm and canceling Heroes Global Championship and Heroes of the Dorm eSports, the company announced on their official news site.

Their motive for such a drastic move was to position the game for long-term sustainability. Blizzard is allocating their development resources away from Heroes of the Storm and putting those developers on other projects. The game, however, will continue to receive new content like heroes and themed events.

We now have more live games and unannounced projects than at any point in the company’s history. We’re also at a point where we need to take some of our talented developers and bring their skills to other projects. As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to shift some developers from Heroes of the Storm to other teams, and we’re excited to see the passion, knowledge, and experience that they’ll bring to those projects.

This news from Blizzard will heavily affect eSports players and content creators who relies on Heroes of the Storm to earn a decent living. The backlash from players, Twitch streamers, Youtubers, Hots communities on Reddit, and other social network sites demonstrate just how upset people are with Blizzard’s decision to pull the plug on Heroes Global Championship and Heroes of the Dorm.
