Niantic has kicked off a new in-game event in Pokémon GO. The Battle Showdown is now live until March 12, and it gives players a chance to catch two new Shiny Pokémon.
Throughout the Battle Showdown event, Fighting-type Pokémon such as Mankey, Machop, Makuhita and Meditite will spawn more frequently in the wild than they normally do. Players will be able to find Shiny versions of Mankey and Machop for the first time. In addition to the Battle Showdown event, Niantic has permanently added Power-Up Punch to Pokémon GO. Poliwrath, Hitmonchan, Kangaskhan, Medicham, Lucario and certain other Pokémon will now be able to learn the Fighting-type move.
