PS4 And Vita Owners Are Getting Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization

Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization, is the follow-up to the successful Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment, that was released for both Playstation Vita and Playstation 4 back in 2014. The game, based on the anime and light novel Sword Art Online, follows the story of Kirito, who is trapped in an MMORPG where dying in the game means dying in real life as well. It is up to the players to survive and find a way out of the game.

Revealed during the Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival 2015, Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization is the fourth installment of the Sword Art Online game series, and while no story details have been released yet. Early reports seem to indicate that the focus of this game will be on Aincard. It seems like Hollow Realization will serve as an “origin” story and the “revival” for Aincard.

Along with the announcement, Bandai Namco also released a trailer that gives some tidbits of information about the game and also the Japan release for Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita. If you haven’t seen it, check out the trailer embedded below.

Gameplay will follow the same system as previous iterations of the game, which is a simulated MMORPG combat system with battles taking place in dungeons. Previous Sword Art Online titles included dating sims elements and the ability to recruit over 100 characters to join the players in battles, which will probably also make its way to Hollow Realization.

If you haven’t played Sword Art Online, you can look forward to Sony and Bandai Namco releasing a special Playstation 4 Sword Art Online: Game Director’s Edition Aincard Model for the Japanese market. The collectors edition, which comes with the Playstation 4 version of Lost Song and a code for Re: Hollow Fragments, will be available for pre-order on October 5 wth a Jet Black and Glacier White model to choose from. It will cost ¥42,980 ($358) and will be released on November 19th, 2015.

Sword Art Online Collectors Edition Playstation 4

Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization is expected for release sometime in 2016 for Japan and will release exclusively to Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita. No information on a western release yet, but stay tuned for any updates at OffGames.com.
