LEGO is not the only blocky sensation that’s getting their own movie. Minecraft, the open-world sandbox creation game by Mojang, is finally getting a release date for its feature film debut.
Be prepared to watch the Minecraft movie when it comes out on May 24, 2019!
Yep. It’s still a long time away but at least it will be in 3D and IMAX. The announcement was made via Mojang’s official blog by COO Vu Bui, and while no details were offered. it’s long been known that the movie will be directed by It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia‘s Rob McElhenney.
Given that Warcraft is now the biggest video game movie franchise ever, a little healthy competition from one of the biggest gaming phenomenon wouldn’t hurt. Heck, it might actually push Warcraft to make their movies better.
