Return To The Familia With The Newly Announced Mafia III

Are you ready to become a “Made Man” in the Familia? Well, you better, because 2K Games have officially announced the sequel to the Mafia series with Mafia III.

The news of a new Mafia game came straight from 2K’s official UK twitter account with the simple tease of a worldwide reveal on August 5th. which is when Europe’s largest gaming convention, Gamescom will begin. Aside from that, not much information have been released by either 2K or the developer, Hanger 13.

This announcement came as no surprise, ever since rumors have started floating from 2012 that 2K Czech had begun working on the third entry for the Mafia series. Despite stories of production issues, most would’ve ventured 2K Czech to continue working on Mafia III, instead, it is the newly-formed Hangar 13 that has taken over the series.

An official statement was released by 2K, giving us a brief description on the newly announced Mafia game,

“Mafia III is the next installment in the popular series known for immersing players into a world of organized crime through rich narrative storytelling and a beautifully crafted game world featuring period-accurate cars, music, and fashion.”

Although it is an open world game, the Mafia series was able to set its self apart from other open world games through its authentic depiction of cars, music, and fashion of the Mafia era. It remains as one of the more critical and commercially successful open world series that 2K owns. Aside from Grand Theft Auto that is.

Hopefully when Gamescom comes around, we’ll get more information on the upcoming entry to the Mafia series.
