The rumour mill is churning again as word going around is that Sony will officially announce their 4K enabled PlayStation console, the PlayStation 4.5 (aka Neo), on September 7 in New York.
Reports came from French gaming website Gameblog and VICE Gaming with both claiming that the console will be debuting soon with an event that’s set to take place in New York City on September 7. If the rumours are true, then it could be that Sony’s planning to launch the console alongside the PlayStation VR, which is set for release on October 13.
Technical specs of the PlayStation Neo was previously leaked by Kotaku and Giantbomb and shows the console being capable of handling 4K rendering with extra processing power to render PlayStation VR games in higher fidelity. Currently, no official details have been released by Sony regarding the console’s price and launch date, however, if the reports are true, we’ll find out more sooner than later.
PlayStation 4.5 (Neo) was confirmed to be in development by Sony during E3 2016. No official announcements have been made about the console and its release.
