Shadow Complex Remastered Is Coming And Is Free For PC

Shadow Complex was one of the great exclusive titles that came to Xbox 360 and was an absolute hit with its addictive Metroidvania system and clever gameplay that mixes 3D shooting mechanics on a 2D platform. Now, Six years after its release, Playstation and PC gamers can finally get their hands on the remastered edition.

Released in 2009 by Chair Entertainment under Epic Games, Shadow Complex follows protagonist Jason Flemming as he ventures into a secret underground base to rescue his girlfriend. While the premise might not sound enticing, it’s the gameplay where Shadow Complex truly shines.

A wonderful blend of Super Metroid and Castlevania-like mechanics, the action sidescroller manages to blend great storytelling with deep exploration, neatly wrap in a sci-fi setting that’s quite distinct. Now remastered for the modern consoles, players of different consoles can finally experience one of Xbox’s best kept exclusive.

Donald Mustard, co-founder and creative director of Chair Entertainment shared his enthusiasm for remastering Shadow Complex. “Bringing Shadow Complex to a larger audience of gamers across multiple platforms has always been one of our goals at Chair,” Mustard continued, “We’re super excited to introduce a remastered version to fans, old and new, and for the opportunity it creates for us to do more in the Shadow Complex universe.”

Currently, Shadow Complex Remastered is available for free on PC here. No word yet on when it will come for Playstation 4 and Xbox One but, given how it’s already out for PC (technically speaking since it’s only available through Epic’s game client), we could be looking at a 2016 release.
