Sony Might Work On Bringing PlayStation VR To PC
Could Sony be bringing the PlayStation VR to PC? Based on a report by Polygon via Nikkei, a PC compatible PlayStation VR is being considered by the Japanese tech giant.
Sony Computer Entertainment executive vice president Masayasu Ito expressed his interest in bringing the headset, which is currently the cheapest VR headset in the market, to PC platforms in the device’s later lifespan.
Given that PlayStation 4’s and PC share similar architecture (namely the processors and graphic architecture), the transition from PlayStation 4 compatibility to PC shouldn’t be a hurdle for Sony. Though if you’re hoping to buy a PlayStation VR to use with your PC, you might want to hold off as Sony intends to make the console as the platform for PlayStation VR before any other platforms.
The PlayStation VR is expected to launch in October 2016 and will cost $399. A PlayStation Camera is required to use the PlayStation VR.
