Sony’s Cross-Play Woes Continues To Grow

Sony might change its stance on cross-platform efforts based on a recent comment provided by Sony’s CEO at the recent Gamelab conference in Spain.

At the moment, players still can’t play Fortnite on Nintendo Switch using their Epic account if it’s ever been linked to a PlayStation 4. Sony’s device has notably excludes Nintendo and Microsoft devices. When asked about the company’s crossplay policies regarding Fortnite, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Shawn Layden said:
We’re hearing it. We’re looking at a lot of the possibilities. You can imagine that the circumstances around that affect a lot more than just one game. I’m confident we’ll get to a solution which will be understood and accepted by our gaming community, while at the same time supporting our business.
Nintendo is known to be protective of its brand, however, with the recent collaboration with Xbox proves that the Japanese firm is willing to compromise for the sake of the gaming community. For the time being, players on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, mobile devices and PC are able to play together in the same session on various games. Sony is the last remaining roadblock to a complete cross-play compatibility.
