Storm Survival City Builder Against the Storm Announced for 2021
Rainy weather can be nice, but it’s a major problem in the newly-announced roguelite city builder Against the Storm. This upcoming title from Eremite Games tasks players with building a city in a world where the rain never stops.
In this new fantasy world, there isn’t exactly a rainy season, there’s three! Humans, beavers, and lizards must band together to build a community in a world that seems all too happy to drown them in a deluge without end.
These three fantasy races won’t just be cosmetic, either; humans, beavers, and lizards will each have their own strengths, weaknesses, and needs. You’ll have to use them to their fullest if you want your city to survive!
The press release announcing this game also mentions that it’s going to have roguelite features, although it declined to specify exactly how that’s going to affect the gameplay.
That said, randomized events that throw a wrench in the works is practically a staple of city builders like SimCity and Cities: Skylines, so anyone familiar with the genre should be well-equipped to deal with whatever the game throws their way. Of course, it’s entirely possible that Against the Storm will be closer to stuff like Frostpunk or They Are Billions and prove to be a supremely challenging experience.
