Street Fighter V is shaping up to be a fighting fan’s dream as characters and content will be consistently supplied throughout 2016, as announced by Capcom. But that’s not all, during the Sony Paris Games Week conference, two bombshell news were dropped by Capcom to round out the good news on Street Fighter V.
The first news is that Capcom now has an official release date for Street Fighter V. Gamers, get your fighting sticks ready as the game will drop to Playstation 4 and PC for North American and European audiences on February 16, 2016.
Aside from the release date, Capcom also revealed the latest fighter to join the ranks of Street Fighter V. And that fighter is none other than Dhalsim, the fire-breathing leg-stretching yoga master, who will make his return to Street Fighter V. This makes the total revealed roster count up to 15, out of the 16 launch day fighters.
Dhalsim now joins the ranks of fighters such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Cammy, Vega, M. Bison, Birdie, Charlie Nash, Necalli, R. Mika, Rashid, Karin, Zangief, and Laura. As for how Dhalsim will play out, Capcom Unity got the details on his moves:
V-Skill: Yoga Float
Upon activation, Dhalsim hops into the air and floats for a few seconds. During this time, all airborne attacks and specials are accessible. This can also be activated in the air.
V-Trigger: Yoga Burner
Dhalsim shoots out a stream of flames that stays on the screen on the floor for an extended period of time. If the opponent stands in the flames, they will slowly lose life in the form of recoverable damage. Once they step out of the flames, their life will begin to recover.
If you prefer a visual representation instead, we’ve embedded Dhalsim’s trailer below, which showcases his moves and specials:
While Street Fighter V will launch with 16 characters available in-game, Capcom did promise that the roster will be bumped up to 22 by 2017. They expect to release a new character every two months, once the game has been released. As to how players can unlock these new characters, they can choose to buy the characters or unlock them through the Fight Money system whereby players can receive in-game currency by completing daily goals, and leveling up individual characters.
Hopefully, this new system will encourage fans of the game to further explore the different characters, while still getting some rewards in the progress. Street Fighter V is set for release on February 16, 2016, and will come to Playstation 4 and PC.
