Survival Mode Is Coming To Banner Saga 2 On PC

Stoic Studio looks to give Banner Saga 2 more replayability with the newly added free Survival Mode for PC. The mode, which is available now, gives a new strategic element to the turn-based strategy game as players are tasked to survive through 40 waves of enemies.

Engadget reports the new mode which features three levels of difficulty that will challenge the player’s ability to confront enemies in a turn-based tactical showdown.

The Survival Mode will operate on a 30-second turn limit, which will force players to react faster when laying out strategies during battles. Similar to the normal mode, if the hero dies then the party also dies in Survival Mode.

John Watson, technical director of Stoic, mentions in a press release how the new Survival will focus more on the gameplay that Banner Saga 2 is known for.

“Survival Mode is something we’ve been working on behind the scenes for a while now,” Watson states. “This is an entirely new experience within Banner Saga 2. Our goal was to create a fun, tactical game mode where fans can play from a different perspective which focuses on strategy and the hard cost of death in combat. We modified how the combat worked from the core game based on feedback from our community and put it through a closed beta to make sure that it was fun.”

Banner Saga 2 is available now on PC and will come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 26th. It is also expected to come to iOS and Android in the summer.
