Telltale Games Abandons Its Own Tool In Favor Of Unity

Telltale Games will finally replace its Telltale tool to encourage the use of Unity engine.

Telltale Tool was an in-house game engine that was made in 2004, and this engine has supported all Telltale releases for more than ten years. The old but functional tool has received some notable upgrades in the past years, but it is nevertheless an aged engine that can be easily replaced with better tools in the market. Because of this, the company will adopt Unity for its future releases and projects.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season will be the last game to utilize the Telltale Tool. The first games to launch with Unity will be Stranger Things and The Wolf Among Us: Season 2. Even though Telltale managed to achieve impressive results with their own tool, switching to Unity is the most lideal alternative. The Walking Dead: The Final Season’s first episode releases on August 14, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
