The First Raid Is Coming To Guild Wars 2 Next Week

When it launched in 2012, Guild Wars 2 was released to massive critical and commercial success. Fans of the series dove headfirst into the MMORPG, experiencing every single content made available. Despite all the massive content that ArenaNet had shipped with Guild Wars 2, fans were still clamoring for an end-game raid. Three years later, raids are finally making their debut to the popular MMORPG.

Guild Wars 2 Spirit of Vale Raid

Spirit Vale, the first of a three-part raid (or “wings”) is set to make its debut on November 17th, following the release of the new expansion, Heart of Thorns. Aiming to challenge players’ teamwork and fortitude, the raids will be a new experience for veterans of Guild Wars 2.

On the Guild Wars 2 site, ArenaNet described the situation for the Spirit Vale raid as follows: “A Pact has gone missing in northern Maguuma, and you and your allies are the only hope for recovery, but the deadly forest isn’t the only risk to the rescue operation—the area holds dark secrets and strange magic.” While major storylines are not to be expected, a simple goal of a rescue mission is enough to get the raid in motion.

ArenaNet stated that “Raid in Heart of Thorns will be unlike anything players have experienced before, such as 10-player challenges designed to deliver epic encounters and rich rewards for skilled players, and with gameplay rooted in everything that sets Guild Wars 2 apart from other MMOs.”

As with any raids, players can expect to receive special “ascended armor and weapons” with items that uniquely themed to the monsters they faced in the raid, with the chance to receive legendary armor if they are successful in conquering the raids. For a deeper understanding of Spirit Vale, ArenaNet had kindly provided important information on the raid below:

Allies in Need – A Pact squad has gone missing in northern Maguuma, and you and your allies are their only hope for recovery. But the deadly forest isn’t the only risk to the rescue operation–the area holds dark secrets and strange magic.
Enhanced Squad UI – Along with the addition of our first raid wing, you can get organized on a whole new level with the enhanced squad UI. This feature will allow you to organize, command, and lead your ten-player raid or a squad of up to 50 players in the World vs. World and Tyria at Large.
Legendary Rewards – With great risk comes great reward, and conquering raids will start you down the path to gathering the components you’ll need to build legendary armor. You may also find ascended gear, miniatures, and new, unique weapon skins.
