Turning 2D Into 3D For These Nintendo Classic Games
2D Nintendo side-scrollers have always had their charm but what if these classic NES games underwent a little makeover and become a 3D game instead? Well, you can test it out yourself because someone created an emulator that turns 2D NES games into 3D.
The 3DNes Emulator, which currently runs on Firefox only, takes classic titles such as Contra, Mega Man, Dr. Mario, and Zelda to name a few and turns them into 3D using some clever depth perspective. Check it out in action with the video below:
The project is currently in beta and only a certain number of games are available. The 3D Mario ones, though, are quite dizzying to play in first-person and third-person. Check out this clip below of Super Mario in both first-person and third-person 3D perspective. Be forewarned, it’s going to feel slightly trippy.
