Valve Dropped The Ban Hammer Over 40,000 Steam Accounts After Summer Sale
After the Steam Summer Sale comes to an end on July 5th, Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) system proceeds to ban over 40,000 Steam accounts the very next day. This is by far the biggest ban wave to ever to occur in the history of Steam. The figures was taken from third-party websites like SteamDB, which keeps tabs on the quantity of accounts bans daily. When Steam Summer Sale ended, SteamDB detected a huge spike in bans having an estimated 40,411 accounts closed down.
If you intend to use any third-party modifications to a game designed to give yourself an advantage over another, it is classified as cheating and will trigger a VAC ban.
Valve is tracking down cheaters with AIs and so far the system is working well to ensure fair play for all in Steam. Steam users that get caught by Valve Anti-Cheat can end up with a permanent single game ban or an account ban.
