Video of Apple’s New iPhone 7 EarPods Have Emerged

There have been rumblings since November last year that Apple’s latest flagship phone, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, will ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack when it releases. Now, a video has surfaced that shows off the new EarPods for iPhone 7, which utilises a lighting port jack.

The video, which was uploaded by EverythingApplePro, shows the new EarPods being used on an iPhone 6 and actually working. While we can’t confirm whether the video is authentic or merely a hoax, it does give us an idea of how Apple’s Lightning jack earphones will work.

For those who are worried if this will cause their old earphones to be obsolete, then you might be in luck. There have been rumours that Apple will bundle a Lighting to 3.5mm adapter free, as reported by BGR.

“On another note, it’s also been rumoured that Apple will ship a Lightning to 3.5mm adapter for free with every iPhone 7 purchase,” Yoni Heisler reports for BGR. “If the rumour pans out, it would be a welcome gesture from Apple given that they’re abandoning a universally used port with something proprietary…providing an adapter on the house is just smart business, especially in light of shrinking iPhone sales.”

A free adapter will definitely put Apple back in the good  graces of consumers. Of course, it remains to be seen whether the Cupertino company will actually go through with such a plan. We’ll just have to wait until the iPhone 7 is officially released, which industry analysts predicts will be in September.
