Reuters’ sources confirms that the French media conglomerate Vivendi will complete the takeover of Ubisoft before the end of 2017.
Guillemot family and Ubisoft have already been resisting a takeover from Vivendi last year, despite the French media possessing 25 percent of the organization shares.
”Vivendi is moving to the second phase; everything will take place this year.” While Vivendi would have a limit on how much it’d be willing to spend, “The logical thing would be to buy Ubisoft.”
Vivendi is aggressive on its acquisitions this year with a 60 percent stake of Havas, an advertising company, and now they are targeting Ubisoft, a video game publisher.
The company has been slowly acquiring the game publisher’s shares and they manage to reach 25 percent mark by December. At 30 percent, they could pursue a controlling stake in the company under French law.
