What to Expect in Genshin Impact’s 2.4 Update

What to Expect in Genshin Impact’s 2.4 Update

It’s the New Year and miHoYo is treating us with a fresh new Genshin Impact update!

The update is expected to drop on January 4, 2021, at 9:00 p.m, (GMT+8) with juicy new content for us to enjoy.

Do note that there will also be downtime due to maintenance that will last approximately 5 hours. Don’t worry though, miHoYo is generous enough to compensate at least x300 Primogems for the downtime with 60 Primogems for every extra hour the server is down.

And with all the technicalities of the update out of the way, let us get into the real content which we are most likely seeing in the 2.4 update.

New May Enkanomiya 2.4 Update

New Map Changes

Like with most Genshin Impact updates, the land of Tevyat gets a little bigger and the new update will allow players to venture into the depths of Enkanomiya.

According to lore, Enkanomiya is the birthplace for the Watatsumi people and will only open for travellers who are worthy—travellers who have a heart ‘as clear as water’.

Hopefully, once we are able to explore Enkanomiya ourselves, we will be able to learn more about the history of the Watatsumi people and their culture.

To gain access to Enkanomiya, players will need to:

– Raise their Adventure Rank to at least level 30

– Have completed the Chapter 2: Act 3 Omnipresence Over Mortals quest

– Have completed both The Water Still Flows and The Moon-Bathed Deep world quests

Therefore, if you haven’t completed the aforementioned quests yet, be sure to do so before the maintenance starts as you don’t want to be falling behind once the update goes live.

New Characters Genshin Impact 2.4 update

New Characters

The 2.4 update will also introduce 2 new playable characters, a 4-star and a 5-star character. These characters include the 4-star Yun Jin and the 5-star Shenhe.

More about the characters:

Yun Jin

Yun Jin is a Geo-user that excels with the polearm. Professionally, she is an actress cum singer that graces the Heyu Tea House.

That said, do not let her elegance fool you as Yun Jin takes her on-stage persona into the battlefield with powerful moves like Opening Flourish and Cliffbreaker’s Banner that is dependent on her DEF stat for the best damage output.

Equipment-wise, it is best to equip Yun Jin with artifacts that raise her DEF stat or HP stat as most of her damage output is reliant on her DEF stat. As a melee character, Yun Jin will always benefit from having high health points.

Shenhe

The disciple of the adepti, Cloud Retainer, Shenhe, is the next character joining us in combat.

A talented user of the Cryo arts, Shenhe is said to be immensely gifted with the adepti teachings. Distancing herself from normal-earthly life activities, Shenhe can be faintly described as half-mortal and half-adepti.

Similar to Yun Jin, her main weapon is the polearm. Despite wielding the polearm like Yun Jin, Shenhe’s damage output is reliant on her current ATK stat. Thus, equipping her with an ATK-boosting artifact is arguably the best way to build her.

Plus, most of Shenhe attacks like Divine Maiden’s Deliverance and Dawnstar Piercer have an AoE effect, making her a valuable asset to clear waves of enemies.

New Weapon Calamity Queller Genshin Impact

New Equipment and Enemies

Besides introducing new characters, the 2.4 update will also bring in new foes and weapons.

The featured weapon for the update will be the polearm, Calamity Queller, which will have the following stats:

– a 5-star rarity

– a maximum attack of 741

– secondary ATK stat

– allow its wielder to deal bonus elemental damage and obtain Consummation for 20 seconds if they were to use an elemental attack (after refinement)

– has a stacking mechanic that increases damage for up to 6 stacks (after refinement)

– consummation’s ATK is doubled if the wielder of the weapon is not in battle

As you can tell, the Calamity Queller is the ideal weapon for Shenhe which will definitely bring out her full potential in battle.

The Calamity Queller would perhaps be a great tool to take down two of the latest enemies added to Teyvat—Rimebitter Bathysmal Vishap and Bolteater Bathysmal Vishap.

We still don’t know much about these monsters, but what we do know is that these monsters will yield the Dragonheir’s False Fin that can be used to level up Shenhe.

New Quest Genshin Impact 2.4 update

New Events

Again, the new events will centre around Shenhe. The 2.4 update will include an interlude Chapter called The Crane Returns on the Wind.

Although there is still no solid information on what The Crane Returns on the Wind quest holds, the story of the quest most probably serves as a prologue for both Shenhe and Yun Jin.

Recurring fan-favourites like the Lantern Rite Festival and Windtrace will also be coming back in the update.
