Based on a new report, Xbox support staff has lost their jobs to volunteers from the Xbox Ambassadors program. The irony is that they had helped to train the volunteers before they were laid off.
These unpaid Xbox Ambassadors are only rewarded with points and was given the opportunity to participate in competitions for a chance to win prizes. Polygon reported that Microsoft has terminated 12 support staff that was hired through an IT consulting firm called Affirma Consulting and former employees claims that they were specifically tasked with increasing the Ambassadors’ input on Xbox support issues before getting axed.
The support staff main job was to provide assistance and responding to tweet request from the Twitter account @XboxSupport, as well as provide training to the Xbox Ambassadors to complete similar task.
